EVS IN PRACTISE

Let's talk about...  EVS

 - European Voluntary Service -

EVS is an unique opportunity to travel, grow and build quality relationships in Europe in association with environment, social inclusion, gender, art, media and culture and more.

Who can participate?

The European Voluntary Service is a part of the European Commission program ("Erasmus +") that aims at young people aged 17 to 30. Program offers possibility to volunteer abroad for a period between 2 weeks and 12 months: an intercultural learning experience IN an informal context, to promote social integration and active participation. Through this experience young people have the opportunity to express solidarity with others and to acquire at the same time, new skills useful for their personal training and curriculum.

Which projects are supported? How it works?

To be funded, a project must involve close cooperation between:
  • the organization of origin (sending)
  • the organization of destination (receiving)
  • the volunteer
Therefore, the EVS is an agreement between the volunteer, the host organization and the sending organization that deals with the tutoring between the candidate and the foreign association. Those who want to join EVS, should contact a sending organization that will guide and support them in the search for a hosting organization and in choosing the most suitable project to attend.

Where could you go with the European Voluntary Service program?

  • In all 28 European Union Member States;
  • Norway, Liechtenstein, Turkey, Iceland, Switzerland, Macedonia;
  • In all the countries of the Euro - Mediterranean area;
  • In the Balkans
  • Eastern Europe and the Caucasus

What about the costs?

The foreign host organization, thanks to European funding, provides the candidate:
  • personal support by the ''mentor'' and another figure with experience in charge of support for the work
  • food and accommodation
  • language support
  • travel cost, fully refunded if within certain limits set by the European Commission based on the destination and the distance
  • health insurance
  • monthly pocket money (the price varies between 50 and 150 euro according to the destination, as determinated by the Erasmus +)
